Homeless for four years and incarcerated for seven years, Mark's earlier years were filled with trauma, tragedy and drug addiction. He experienced a pivotal moment while in prison that changed his life forever. Now, he is a best-selling author, highly sought-after speaker and transformational coach, and host of his own podcast.

But it didn't come easily. Mark had to overcome an immense amount of self-limiting beliefs. All of us have self-limiting beliefs to overcome, no matter what our past is. But if we can change our mindset from "this is happening to me" to "this is happening for me", and take actions to disprove our limiting beliefs, we can overcome them and come into our purpose.

This is what Mark's book and podcast are all about. The book is called Embrace Your Past, Win Your Future. He wants to change the way society views trauma, and empower trauma victims to break free from the mindset they've been living in. The podcast is called Purpose Chasers Podcast, which highlights stories of people overcoming self-limiting beliefs to pursue their purpose.

In this episode, Mark shares the incredible story of his past, the moment everything changed, and how he's been able to shift his mindset and help so many others do the same. We also discuss how lacking purpose negatively impacts your relationships and how to find your purpose, and the beautiful story of how Mark and his wife met.

Mark provides powerful insight into the possibilities granted for all of those willing to take risks, and go all in on their lives. Mark went from a homeless drug addict to an author, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and a transformational business and life coach.

Tragedy, trauma, drug addiction, homelessness, incarceration. This was Mark Crandall’s life for a long time. When he was a child, he was handcuffed and locked in a closet. His mom was addicted to cocaine. His sister was born premature.

The State took him when he was three years old to be placed in foster care. He was homeless for four years and incarcerated for seven years.

Mark always believed he lacked motivation, and that his past held him back from achieving happiness in life and finding his purpose. It wasn’t until he found meditation and began reading many self-help books like Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins that he finally understood his self-limiting beliefs and what he had to do to overcome them.

Self-limiting beliefs are the beliefs we hold that sabotage our own happiness and limit our chance for success, such as, “I’m dumb”, or “Everyone is against me,” or, “Because I wasn’t born into a happy healthy family, I’ll never be successful”.

Embrace Your Past, Win Your Future

Mark walks the reader through his own internal dialogue to help you identify your own self-limiting beliefs, and then gives you the action steps to overcome them.

Mark wants to change the way society views trauma, and to empower trauma victims to break free from the mindset they’re currently living in. The “I’ll never be enough, I don’t deserve it, why does everything bad happen to me” mindset.

In part one of his book, he captures his own internal dialogue that went on in his head during his transformational journey, in order to allow readers to identify their own internal dialogue. What toxic thoughts and beliefs do you hold and don’t even realize it?

Mark’s advice is to get quiet, and then to seek. Once you can learn to quiet your mind, you will be able to feel your intuition, and then let it guide you. And then, take action.
