Zach set out on a backpacking trip around Europe on July 4th, 2012. At the time, he didn’t know just how much this journey would be a transformative, life-changing experience.

For 7 months, he traveled 17 countries and 50 cities, and had countless thought-provoking conversations with people from all over the globe.

Through one conversation, in a country he never expected to visit, with a person from a particular country he never expected to meet someone from, he found one incredible truth.

One conversation turned into many, one incredible truth turned into one simple phrase

In Zach’s conversation in a hostel in Estonia with a man from North Korea, he found that even though they came from such DRASTICALLY different backgrounds, they were both humans with similar dreams and hopes.

Zach realized that we are all living our own stories. And that your story, when shared, doesn’t diminish, it contributes. Discovering your superpowers and living your most authentic life inspires others to do the same, making the world a better place.

“We have control over our minds and who we are. We have absolute power of who we are. It’s not something that just happens. We have to flex that muscle and really practice that.” -Zach Horvath

With this truth in mind, Zach felt compelled to grab a bottle of red spray paint and spray a simple phrase on a popular trail in Austin.

People began taking photos of the message and hashtagging the words in the message. Now, the hashtag has over 110K posts on Instagram.

Zach went on a 7 month backpacking adventure in Europe and after hearing so many stories from other travelers, he was inspired to spray paint the message “Live a Great Story” on a popular trail in Austin, Texas. It has since turned into a movement, …

Zach went on a 7 month backpacking adventure in Europe and after hearing so many stories from other travelers, he was inspired to spray paint the message “Live a Great Story” on a popular trail in Austin, Texas. It has since turned into a movement, with over 110K hashtag uses on Instagram.

One simple phrase turned into a movement changing thousands of lives

The phrase Zach spray painted was “Live a Great Story”. He wanted to inspire people to go out into the world, push themselves outside of their comfort zones and share their stories.

And people did it! The message has been taken all over the world. Today, you can buy apparel and stickers with the phrase “Live a Great Story”. You can also apply to join the first ever Live a Great Story Conference in Austin, Texas, where entrepreneurs and creatives will gather to share insights, build and grow together.

All the best stories are love stories

Zach and Sophie discuss the popular phrase, “How you do anything is how you do everything”.

For Zach, this really rings true. As someone who is constantly pushing himself outside of his comfort zone and testing his limits, his love story of course follows this sentiment.

In this interview, Zach shares how doing the work on himself and being the best he can be put him on the path to finding an incredible partner. He talks with Sophie about how differently he behaves in this relationship compared to in the past. And how just after two weeks of knowing each other, Zach took a huge chance and asked her to do something pretty unexpected. Tune in to hear the full story!
