The Art of Embracing and Connecting with Emotions with Rukmini Poddar

Emotions can be scary, however, they don’t have to be! Rukmini Poddar is an artist who learned to process her emotions by drawing them out. Now, she wants to teach you how to do the same.

Rukmini grew up in an environment where emotions were not very openly embraced. In fact, she describes the situation as growing up in an environment “closed off to emotions”. As one might expect, growing up without the ability or space to truly express emotions led to difficulties conveying her emotions as she entered adulthood. However, while many adults tend to seek various self-destructive methods of expressing their emotions, Rukmini chose art.

For 100 days straight, she sat down and drew out her emotions and how she felt that day. Regardless of it being a good day or a really sucky day, she still showed up and flipped her emotions into art every day. Through doing so, she learned so much about herself, as well as how to express her emotions in a way that was perfect for her. Through recognizing how beneficial it was for her, she decided to start posting her art on Instagram to potentially help other people deepen their emotional intelligence.

As this gained traction, she began to explore other ways to use art to help people and was led to the Enneagram personality typing test. Through studying the Enneagram test more, she was able to then create art that was relatable to each individual “type”. This has been a big hit for her, as well as something she is very passionate about.

In addition to all of this, Rukmini is now holding courses and workshops where she teaches YOU how to draw your emotions and express yourself through art. She is also an enthusiast of the 100 Day Challenge, such as the one that taught her how to convey her emotions by drawing them out. She has a book and prints that are available for purchase on her website (linked below) if you would like to show her some support in that way!

In Rukmini’s episode of The Love Intently Podcast, we chat about her 100 day challenges, how she got into drawing her emotions, the Enneagram test, seeking discomfort, and so much more. Tune in to learn a creative way to process your emotions and see below for a full list of lessons/topics covered in this episode with Rukmini.
